OH TIBOR
In a museum gift shop, I picked
up your watch and realized that you were
famous and dead. I remember your
apartment with the odd toilet in the living room,
the music, and the drugs. Or maybe it
was just your crazy Eastern Europeanism.
Did you become successful quickly
because you knew that you
were dying soon? You’re on the MoMA
website because you’re important.
I’m on my own website
because I think that I’m important.
I thought of buying your watch
to track how long it takes me
to do significant things.
Oh Tibor, you are so alive
even though you’re dead —
and I’m so dead even though I’m alive.
